One of the largest waterfalls in Idaho is located just 16 miles from Ashton Log Cabins, known as Mesa Falls.
Mesa Falls in a series of two falls known as the upper and lower falls. Upper Mesa Falls is roughly 114' high and over 200' wide. An extensive board walkway system guides visitors comfortably to the most scenic overlooks of the falls. Upper Mesa Falls also features an amazing visitors lodge known as the Big Falls Inn. Built around 1915 and now opened as an interpretive center in 2001. Here you will see exhibits and the history of the falls and the area.
There are several hiking trails. The one-mile trail to the lower falls is one you won't want to miss.
The estimated time to view the Big Falls Inn, walk the boardwalks, and take in the Upper Mesa Falls scenery is one to two hours.
